Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 September 2026. This page is written to be accurate about how the site actually behaves. It is not a template, and every claim on it can be checked against the code.
Who runs this site
This site is operated by Russell Benzing, contactable at me@russellbenzing.com.
What this site collects directly
Until you buy something, nothing. There is no account, no newsletter signup, no comment form and no contact form. Browsing these pages asks you for nothing and stores nothing about you on any server.
What is kept when you buy the guide
One record per order, created when Stripe confirms the payment. It holds:
- the email address you gave Stripe at checkout, so a download link can be reissued;
- the Stripe order and payment references, and the amount paid;
- the campaign reference described above, if you arrived from an advertisement;
- the date of purchase and the date the download link expires;
- a timestamped entry for every download, with the file and the browser's user agent string.
The download record is kept for one reason and used for one purpose: the refund rule is a full refund before you download and none afterwards, and that rule is only fair if which of the two applies is a matter of record rather than of memory. You can see the same record yourself on your download page.
Your IP address is not stored. It is combined with a secret and hashed, which is enough to tell whether two downloads came from the same place without keeping where that place was. Card details are never seen by this site at all; Stripe handles those.
Order records are kept as long as tax record-keeping requires, and then deleted. To ask what is held about you, or to have it deleted once it is no longer needed for tax or accounting, write to the address above.
What your browser stores
If you arrive from an advertisement, the campaign parameters in the link
(utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign,
utm_content, utm_term, and click identifiers such
as gclid or fbclid) are kept in your browser's
session storage for the length of that visit, so the purchase can be
credited to the advertisement that brought you here. Session storage is
cleared when you close the tab. It never leaves your device except as part
of the checkout reference described below.
Analytics
This site currently runs no analytics. No script from Google or Meta is requested, no analytics cookie is set, and nothing about your visit is sent to either of them. You can confirm that for yourself in your browser's network tab.
If that changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. The site is built to support Google Analytics 4, Google Ads conversion tracking and the Meta pixel; each is switched on by adding its identifier to the site's configuration, and none of them loads until you interact with the page or your browser goes idle.
Payment
Purchases are handled by Stripe. When you press a purchase button you leave this site for Stripe's own checkout page. Card details are entered there, on Stripe's systems, and are never transmitted to or stored by this site. Stripe receives a short reference describing which campaign brought you here, so a payment can be matched to an advertisement. Stripe's handling of your data is governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
Your choices
Browser-level tracking protection, an ad blocker, or "Do Not Track" will prevent the analytics scripts from loading, and the site works normally without them. To request deletion of analytics data associated with you, write to the address above.
Children
This site sells a guide written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
